Create and Enhance Illustrations Using Photoshop

Click to enlarge While working for Element K Press, I authored and coauthored instructional manuals for graphics software titles.

The first book I wrote, Create and Enhance Illustrations Using Photoshop, shows students how to use Photoshop to enhance line art illustrations. I developed this book from my own experiences as a cartoonist using Photoshop to colorize and organize my own artwork.

The first project shows students how to add color to a scanned line art illustration and how to recolor the line art itself.

In the second project, students learn how to apply gradient fills to create three-dimensional shading, such as the shading on the larger wrestler's muscles.

The final project shows students how to create a composite image by combining several different smaller images. The cavalry image below is made up of several separate components such as an arrow, the wall, the wagon, the men, and the background.
